The Bilateral Base platform supports visual, auditory, and tactile bilateral stimulation (BLS) through its integrated tools, all of which are remotely controlled by the therapist and can be customised to meet the individual needs of each client. The EMDR tools can also be combined and synchronised, offering therapists a powerful yet user-friendly toolkit.
- Virtual Light Bar: This tool replicates the traditional method of the therapist moving their hand across the client’s field of vision, but with enhanced customisation options. The Virtual Light Bar removes any physical strain and can be used in both in-person and online sessions, where it appears on the client’s computer screen alongside the therapist’s video feed.
- Auditory BLS Studio: Offering a rich library of BLS sounds and tones, the Auditory BLS Studio can be used in both online and in-person sessions through stereo headphones. It’s ideal for clients who prefer auditory stimulation or are using smaller devices less suited to visual BLS.
- Tactile BLS: Rounding out the suite of EMDR tools are affordable tactile tappers, which can be used in the therapy room or sent to clients for home use. These tappers are easy to control and adjust remotely, ensuring seamless tactile stimulation during sessions.

- Secure Reusable Access Links: Each client is provided with a unique, secure access link that they can use to join all their therapy sessions, ensuring convenience and security.
- Leading Device Compatibility: We’ve optimised the platform to work seamlessly across a wide range of devices, from computers and tablets to smartphones, providing flexibility and accessibility for clients.
Secure and Full-featured Video Conferencing #
To enable effective communication between therapists and their clients during online sessions, Bilateral Base integrates the industry-standard video conferencing technology, WebRTC. This ensures secure and reliable video and audio for both parties.
In addition to video conferencing, we offer a comprehensive set of tools designed to enhance the online therapy experience, comparable to those found on leading platforms like Zoom and Microsoft Teams:
- Group Video Calls: Host multi-participant calls to include a translator, supervisor, or to run couples/group therapy sessions or EMDR training.

Bilateral Base operates on a one licence per user basis, with discounts available for multiple-user purchases. Licences can easily be transferred to other team members as needed, using our intuitive admin tool, accessible to nominated users within your organisation.

Onboarding & Training #
Once your organisation is ready to start using the platform, all we need is a list of names and email addresses for those requiring access.
